About 197X
We didn't set out to build a clothing brand. We set out to build something that finally sounded like us.
If you were born in the 1970s, you already know what's missing. Every generation has their moment — their brands, their voice, their cultural shorthand. Gen X got the best decades, the best music, the best summers, and somehow ended up the most overlooked generation in American history. Squeezed between the Boomers who won't retire and the Millennials who got the think pieces written about them. Quietly keeping everything running while nobody noticed.
We noticed.
197X is for the latchkey kids who raised themselves. The ones who drank from garden hoses and survived. Who built careers without a roadmap, raised families without a manual, and figured out the internet before anyone wrote the instructions. Who work hard not because someone's watching but because that's just what you do.
This isn't nostalgia merchandise. It's not a costume. It's a brand built around a generation that never needed to be loud to make a point — but has plenty of them.
If you know, you know. If you don't, it's not for you. And that's fine.
197X is a one man operation. No warehouse, no team, no investors. Just a 47 year old Gen X kid who decided it was time someone built something for us. We're Still Here. And we're just getting started.
We're Still Here. Despite The Radiation.
